The Joint Secretary (E.E.I),MHRD, GoI, New Delhi in the letter cited has informed that

POSHAN Abhiyaan is a flagship programme of the Ministry of Women and Child Welfare

Department Government of India, launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on the

occasion of International Women’s Day on March-2019. POSHAN Abhiyaan aims to draw the

attention of the country towards problems of malnutrition and to address it in Mission Mode

with a vision to ensure attainment of “Suposhit Bharat” by 2022. To achieve the objective,

Rashtriya Poshan Maah was celebrated during the month of September, 2018 and POSHAN

Pakhawada from 8th to 22nd March-2019. This year also Rashtriya Poshan Maah have to be

celebrated in the month of September 2019 to focus on five critical components i.e. first 1000

Days of Child, Anemia, Diarrhoea, Hand Wash & Sanitation and Poshlik Aahar.

Further, Dr.Vinod K Paul, Member NITI Aayog has conducted a meeting on 31.08.2019 to

review the plan of action on the Poshan Maah and suggested that the Education Department to

co-operate with the Women and Child Welfare Department to focus on the said five critical

components.

All the District Educational Officers in the State are, therefore, requested to take immediate

steps to involve all the School/Mandal/ Block /District level officers in this programme and also

extend required cooperation to the Women and Child Welfare Department for successful

conduct of the programme.

Further, they are requested to ensure that the school health programmes are conducted

regularly in every school in consultation with Health Department and health checkups are done

to the children as well as Cook-cum-Helpers. Relevant photographs, paper clips and other

activities in the districts should be emailed.

The action taken report shall be expedited immediately without fail.
