School Education – Student Safety – Summer Vacation – Counselling on safety precautions with special focus on water bodies – Instructions to District Educational Officers – Issued – Reg

ORDER: All the District Educational Officers (DEOs) in the State are hereby informed that the ensuing summer vacation period poses increased risk to students due to excessive heat conditions, increased outdoor exposure, and lack of continuous supervision. Instances of accidents, particularly drowning in water bodies such as canals, ponds, rivers, and wells, have been reported during previous summer periods. It is therefore imperative to take preventive and awareness measures in advance to safeguard students. In this regard, all DEOs are hereby instructed to ensure that structured counselling sessions are conducted in all schools under all managements (Government, Aided, and Private) before the last working day of the academic year, with a focus on sensitizing students about safety precautions during the vacation period. Objectives of Counselling: To create awareness among students about summer-related risks To promote safe behaviour during vacation. To prevent accidents, especially drowning incidents in water bodies. Key Guidelines to be







 Followed: 1. Mandatory Counselling Sessions Headmasters/Principals shall organize special counselling sessions for all students. Sessions should be conducted class-wise or in assemblies before the last working day. 2.
