GUIDELINES Sunday Story Time
Government of Andhra Pradesh, Department of School Education introduced a Reading Campaign “We Love Reading” to develop Foundational Reading skills among students of Class 3rd to 9th in all Schools across the State.
The main objective of the Programme is to inculcate continuous reading habit in students as well as Teachers.
The Programme named Sunday Story Time is introduced to utilize the leisure time, in addition to School based reading activities.
On Every Sunday a reading activity shall be conducted by gathering children in the public libraries/ Colony/ Street/ ward by the librarian and Education & Welfare Assistant.
Head master of the School shall conduct a meeting with the librarian, Education & Welfare Assistant and reading volunteers identified regarding Sunday Story time.
On 5-12-2020 the Head Master, Teachers, Education & Welfare Assistant have to visit the public library and other localities where Mass reading to be conducted and also invite all students to participate in mass reading activity by 10 AM duly following Covid-19 precautions.
On Sunday 6-12-2020 Head master, teachers, librarian, Education & Welfare Assistant shall select one book from the School Library preferably CLIL BOOKS/NBT BOOKS/CBT BOOKS in the required quantity
On 06-12-2020 from 10AM to 12 Noon librarian, Education & Welfare Assistant and volunteers of the Gram Sachivalayam shall conduct Mass reading (Sunday Story Time) activity. By sharp 10 AM the librarian, Education & Welfare Assistant and volunteers of the Grama Sachivalayam read the selected story after brief introduction of the mass reading activity, after that all students shall read the same story on their own.
In the mass reading campaign interested persons, Academicians, Senior citizens, Students Services may be utilized and one of them have to act as Reading Volunteer on Sundays. Every Sunday Mass Reading Campaign (Sunday Story Time) shall be conducted in all libraries, habitations by inviting students studying class 3rd to 9th in that habitation.
Head Masters, Teachers, librarians, Education and welfare Asst. of Grama Sachivalayam shall conduct a preparatory meeting, a day before mass reading campaign.
Inform all parents and students regarding time and venue of the Mass reading Campaign through WhatsApp /phone call/ personal invitation.
Utilize the services of Local interested volunteers.
Get required number of Copies of the story books for mass reading.
Give wide publicity through print and electronic media.
Get prior permission from the village secretary for utilizing the services of Education and Welfare Assistant of Grama Sachi
