from Government funds, shall not participate in canvassing or any political

activity-Reg.

The State Election Commission announced election schedules for conduct of ordinary

elections to Rural and Urban Local Bodies on 07.03.2020 and the Model Code of Conduct

came in force in the entire State with effect from 07.03.2020 and shall remain in force till

the completion of entire election process.

The State Election Commission received complaints from political parties and general

public that Village / Ward volunteers are assisting political parties violating the Model Code

of Conduct. The Village/ Ward volunteers are paid from the Government funds and

discharging the duties and responsibilities assigned to them as employees of the local

bodies. They shall not give room for any complaints or misperception that they are

canvassing or assisting any political party in any manner in the ongoing elections to local

bodies. Such an impression will cast a shadow on the purity of election process and also

violative of the provisions of Model Code of Conduct.

Therefore, the State Election Commission,
