CAREER PROFILE

Rajsekhar Budithi belongs to Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of Andhra Pradesh Cadre of 1992 batch and

worked as Chief Executive Officer for an autonomous poverty reduction mission of the Government of Andhra

Pradesh, India. I held various positions with the government of Andhra Pradesh, as Commissioner, Civil Supplies,

Director of Irrigation, Director of Backward Classes, District Collector of Nellore and Anantapur districts, Project

Director of Poverty Alleviation Project, Project Officer of Integrated Tribal Development Agency and State Project

Director of Primary Education Programme. I was the team leader with UNICEF in Andhra Pradesh. I was Executive

Assistant to Minister of State for Commerce and Power, Government of India. I have two and half decades of

experience of working at policy design, programme management and operations of rural development and poverty

alleviation programmes in India.

KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS

● Under my leadership, 10 million rural poor women organized into 900,000 Self Help Groups and were

federated at sub-national level through World Bank assisted poverty alleviation project, where the

programme attained the status of the National Resource Organization for the national flagship program –

National Rural Livelihoods Mission, Government of India

● Provided transparent and responsive governance to a population of 3 million people as District Collector.

Managed and produced results by providing good leadership to multi-sectoral, varied-skills,

low-motivational government functionaries belonging to nearly 150 departments. Used the regulatory

powers for the betterment of poor- assignment of government land, distribution of surplus land and better

delivery under public distribution system.

● Pioneered many IT interventions in rural development, e.g. introducing e-POS machines at the Fair Price

Shop level to prevent rampant corruption and introduce 100% transparency and accountability

● Initiated the social mobilization of the Differently Abled Persons and their rehabilitation through the

Community Based Rehabilitation approach

● Nation-wide initiatives to add an additional power generation capacity of 79,000 MW, electrification of

115,000 remote and interior villages, electrification of 24.30 million poor households provided efficient

support to the Minister in policy design, oversight, parliamentary matters, coordination with other

ministries and state governments,

● Policy level engagement in Ministry of Commerce, especially in advising the minister related the South Asia

Free Trade Agreement (SAFTA) – trade and transit agreements amongst eight south Asian nations, transit

and trade with border nations
