International day against violence and bullying at Schoolincluding cyber bullying – Reference from UNESCO, New Delhi
Attention is invited to the reference cited, Wherein the GoI has
informed that UNESCO has informed that 5th November 2020 will mark
the fist-ever commemoration of the new International Day against
violence and bullying at school including cyber bullying. Under the theme
“Together against Bullying in School”. In this regard, vide D.Ono. 12-
19/2012-RMSA-I dated: 8th November 2016 for setting up an institutional
mechanism for making schools free from bullying and ragging also refers.
2) Further, informed that UNESCO has developed resources on the
ways to address and eliminate violence and bullying in school. Online
activities, which may be conducted for children and teachers in
observance of this day have also been developed. The weblinks of these
resources are available at UNESCO’s website and will also be shared with
the States through e-mail.
3) In this regard to take necessary steps for sensitization of teachers
and creating awareness among children against violence and bullying at
schools, including cyber bullying, with the help of, but not restricted to,
the resources developed by UNESCO. And also further requested that any
preventive measures taken by States on the subject may also be shared
with their Department.
4) Therefore, a copy of the reference is herewith forwarded to all the
Regional Joint Directors of School Education and District Educational
Officers in the State, they are requested to take immediate necessary
action accordingly and report compliance.
