Revision of Menu – Measures to the taken in implementation – Instructions issued
All the District Educational Officers in the State are informed that the
Mid-Day Meal programme is a flagship programme aiming at enhancing
enrolment, retention and attendance and simultaneously improving
nutritional levels among children studying in Government, Local Body and
Government-aided primary and upper primary schools and the Centres
run under Education Guarantee Scheme (EGS)/ (AIE) & NCLP schools.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister has personally reviewed the status of
malnutrition among children and directed to bring radical changes in the
existing menu being provided to the children. Government in the memo
read above have issued orders for revision of Menu and provided the
revised menu to be followed. A copy of the memo is enclosed for
reference. Under revised menu Government have ordered to provide
Peanut-Jaggery Chikki (25 grms per child) for three days in a week as an
additional item to address malnutrition. Further, Government have
directed for implementation in all schools after Sankranti Holidays.
In view of the orders of Government all the District Educational Officers
are requested ensure that the revised menu under MDM is implemented in
all schools after Sankranti Holidays(i.e from 21st January) as directed by
Government. They are further requested to
1. Disseminate the orders of Government to all the schools and
Centralised Kitchens.
2. Ensure that the peanut-jaggery chikki is prepared in schools until a
policy on procurement is finalised. The cost @ Rs.135/- per kg shall
be paid to the CCHs.
3. The orders on enhancement of cooking cost will be issued
separately. Till such time the existing cooking cost has to be paid to
the Cooking Agencies. The enhanced amount shall be claimed
