Displaying of Child Helpline number: 1098 in Schools and Public places as per directions of Hon’ble Supreme Court

Educational Officers in the State are informed that, in the reference

nd read above (copy enclosed), the Joint Secretary to the Govt. of

India, Ministry of Women and Child Development has stated that, the

Hon’ble Supreme Court has taken Suo cognizance due to alarming rise

in the number of child rape cases in the country related to the

Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. In the Writ

Petition Hon’ble Court vide Order dated: 25-7-2019 has issued direction

that “Child helpline number (1098) should be displayed at various other

prominent places in schools and other public places and requested to

take necessary action and issue instructions to all concerned to comply

with the directions issued by the Hon’ble Supreme Court.

Therefore all the Regional Joint Directors of School Education

and District Educational Officers in the State are requested to issue

necessary instructions to all Field Officers / Headmasters of schools of all

managements in the State to display helpline No. 1098 at various other

prominent places in schools and other public places in their respective

jurisdictions as per directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in Suo

Moto W.P. (Criminal) No. 1/2019.

These instructions should be followed scrupulously.
