The District project ofllcers of Sarva ShikshaAbhiyan are requested to implenientation of

Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) Awareness program in Schools under school health program

in the State and addressed thrrt the School Education Department, Andhra Pradesh has been taking

several steps to prevent Dillrhoea diseases among School going children and to reduce the

absentees rate and retention of attendance. Though several steps have been taking by the

Government, there are lot t,l'ITealth issues and make the teachers and students to aware about

health issues and make them to deal with health issues at schools.

Goalof IDCF:-

{ The goal IDCF is to attain zero child deaths due to childhood diarrhoea.

Broad objective of IDCF:-

* The broad ob.jective of IDCF is to ensure high coverage of ORS andZinc use rates

in children with diarrhea throughout the country with special emphasis on the high

priority areas and vulnerable communities, along with inculcating appropriate

behavior in care givers of under - five children for diarrhea prevention &

management.

The following steps are suggested for effective coverage of targeted children with ORS

andZinc during Intensified I)iarrhoea Control Fortnight:

All the key stakeholder departments at the state level to coordinate with

Department ol'Health in effective rolling out of IDCF

All department need to put IDCF as one of the agenda in their periodic or monthly'

meetings to reinforce key messages for the program and facilitate high coverage
