School Education - Tobacco Free Educational Institutions (TOFEI) in Andhra Pradesh - Communication of revised guidelines for effectivie Implementation
The attention of all the Regional Joint Directors of School
Education / District Educational Officers / Principals of DIETs, CTEs, IASEs
in the State is invited to the references read above and informed that, GoI
issued "The Guidelines for Tobacco Free Education Institutions" (TOFEI)
for effective implementation of section 6 of (COTPA) Act, 2003, to protect
the vulnerable population especially young children from exposure to
tobacco use.
The Key objective of these Guidelines is to provide a fresh
momentum to implementation of Tobacco Control initiatives among
adolescents and young adults. These guidelines should be followed by all
educational institution, including schools at all levels both in public and
private sector, these Guidelines also include a self assessment tool to
enable educational institutions to develop a healthy and tobacco free
environment and become tobacco free. The Guidelines, prototype of sign
board with specifications, self-evaluation score card and receipt are
herewith enclosed for ready reference.
Therefore, all Regional Joint Directors of School Education/ District
Educational Officers/ Principal, DIETs, CTEs, IASEs in the State are
requested to issue necessary instructions to all Field Officers/Headmasters
of all Management Schools / Teacher Educational Institutions in the State
to communicate and follow above said revised guidelines for Tobacco Free
Education Institutions (TOFEI) in this regard.
