Opening of Bhavitha Centre for children with special needs
Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Andhra Pradesh has been implementing various
activities for the welfare of the Children with Special Needs (CwSN) such as
providing transport, Escort and hostel allowances Stipend for girls, Home Based
Education, Uniforms, Therapy services, Aids & Appliances in 13 districts of Andhra
Pradesh.
2. Keeping in view the need for bridging between school readiness
programme and mainstream in Government Schools in the tribal areas also, it is
felt an urgent need to set up the Inclusive Education Centres at the ITDA HQs also
in addition to the existing mandal level centres in the ITDA areas. The IERCs which
were also called as Bhavitha Centres are instrumental in preparing the children
with needs from the age group of 4 to 18 years for school-readiness and re-enrol
them into regular Government Schools in the State. The Inclusive Education
Resource Centres are also provided with different services to CwSN such as
auditory training, vision stimulation, orientation and mobility, braille skills, early
child intervention, parental counselling, physiotherapy, speech therapy and school
readiness programme.
3. Accordingly, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Andhra Pradesh has
accorded permission for opening Bhavitha Centres at ITDA headquarters so as to
provide different services to Children with Special Needs (CwSN) in the State.
4. Guidelines and details of budgetary support are annexed to this order.
5. Therefore, the concerned Project Officer, ITDAs in the State are
requested to provide land for constructing of Bhavitha Centres i.e Inclusive
Education Resource Centres (IERCs), in ITDA’s for providing different services to
Children with Special Needs (CwSN) in ITDA in the State. They are further
requested to groom up these institutions as model institutions under their personal
care and supervision.
